Some of the best parts about the Blue Mountains are outdoors. So when the weather is not so great- whether it be rain, smoke or extreme heat, but you really want to get out of the house, where can you go?

I have compiled a list of a few ideas.

Please let me know if I have missed anything valuable.

I have a list here on my website for some Indoor destinations- including indoor play areas, indoor pools, cinemas and museums.

Indoor destinations Blue Mountains

Some local Cafes that have child friendly facilities listed below. Click to find out what makes them child friendly, as that can mean different things for different people.

Panthers Glenbrook

The mountains Grind- Winmalee

Winmalee Village Shopping Centre There is a small play area for young children outside coles, sorry no photos on website. You can grab a coffee from one of the cafes and watch them play.

The Bunker Springwood

20 Mile Hollow

Rust and Timber

Eco-Mountain- Sustain Cafe

Gingerbread House Though you may not be able to enjoy the great outdoor play area, the kids can still enjoy the treasure hunt and icing cookies inside.

Other cafes outside of the Blue Mountains:

Myer Cafe Penrith A great padded play area inside the Myer cafe- great for younger children.

Pages Cafe- Koorong christian book store When you are looking for a great climbing structure but don’t want to go to McDonalds- This is a great place to visor.

Jamison Hotel  There aren’t any pictures of the play area here on the website, but I have visited before and there is a play area that my kids enjoyed.

Coffee Club Nepean River This play area is outdoors but undercover.

Silver Spur Penrith  This restaurant is always my kids pick, and if you time it right you might just get free kids meals and encounter the most Epic Balloon man ever! Great play area, with a small cinema and some vintage arcade games.

Local Libraries are now open, click to find one near to you:

Blue Mountains Libraries During the school holidays they often have worshops- they book up quickly so be quick. They also often provide little activity books for children, which my kids enjoy.

I hope this creates a few more options for you when the weather is making you feel a bit trapped.

Again, let me know if  have missed some great options. I want to keep this website a resourceful as I can for you.

Sincerely, Rachel
