I think many of us have done a lot of ‘facilitating children at home’ lately and might be looking for ways to get out as a family again this holidays.
While there may not be the usual array of activities happening this school holidays due to businesses navigating restrictions.
There are still places to go and things to do with your children this Winter school Holidays.
I thought I would try to consolidate your search and list some things here for your inspiration.
Exploring Outdoors
Search here for many child friendly bush walks, including maps for you to try.
There are 55 Playgrounds in the Blue Mountains. Search Here for my Top 10 favourite Playgrounds including links to where you find the others.
Gardens and Outdoor Adventure that are Open
Many of these sites need to be booked for time ticketed entry in order to keep to restrictions so check before turning up.
High and Wild Mountains Adventures
Horse Riding: check out these sites for their offerings
Hawkesbury Valley Equestrian Centre,
Museums- Blue Mountains and Sydney
And if you feel like a bit of a day trip, there are some interesting exhibitions for kids at these Sydney Museums:
Australian National Maritime Museum
Zoos
Not local to the Blue Mountains, but always worth a day trip.
Workshops
Wild Valley Art Park in Wentworth Falls
Wacky Workshops in Glenbrook
Mayfield Gardens in Oberon…Well worth the drive.
Home Inspiration
A few sites that I find inspiring when I am looking for activities to do things with my kids at home.
Living Learning from Mt Tomah Botanical Gardens
Blue Mountains City Council Library- Activity Pages
Download Borrow Box app for access to books for reading and listening digitally.
We are all operating within different family dynamics but I hope that you can find some inspiration for how to enjoy some time as a family this school holidays.
Remember to be Kind to yourself. Our kids do not need a full program of activities, and our blue mountains backyards are full of sticks and stones to create magic with.
Hope we all get a mixture of respite and recreation.
Blessings,
Rachel xx
